The Check That Always Clears
by Jeff Mason
Friday, December 19, 2003

Sort of a Holiday message in here, about those too prideful to accept help, and those who offer their help unconditionally, not expecting to be paid back...

Things are frustrating;
bearable;
FRUSTRATING!
Plates are so full to
spilling over;
everything hits all at once.
Friends need help, but...
pride
or fear of being indebted
to yet another person
causes them to fail to admit it;
so... it pains me that I cannot help them;
or... maybe I can,
in subtle ways;
hidden, secret, unknown ways;
anonymous ways.

Don't repay me... for a gift I've given you.
Friendship is the only downpayment you need;
your love more than repays me
for anything you perceive
as debt to me.

I'll write a check against my soul,
guaranteed not to bounce,
if you'll accept my helping hand.
My heart's bank is always open to you,
whose name is friend.

Withdrawals available 7x24x365xEternity.
Deposits accepted, but unnecessary.

For you...
no credit check required.

We all have our ups and down days... Awwww...I love Alex too ;)

This poem was absolutely the naked truth...it is hard to help someone that does not want to take it. Maybe the person does not know how. Takes a big heart to know and understand that alone...

This was very beautiful--Bless your heart Jeff. Very creative work as always. I appreciate that. This poem is priceless.

Thank You,
Emilie

Hi Jeff,

The reason that I'm leaving is that I love Teresa but I'm tired of all the lies. You've read about the so-called AD poetry contest. It says:

Judges:
The judges have played a roll in making AuthorsDen what it is today. All judges have a strong desire to help shape AuthorsDen for the future. The judges are professionals in the publishing industry, none of which are Authors on AuthorsDen. Currently we have no plans to release their names, bios, etc. much like we do not release the names of our Board Members or Advisory Board Members.

Well, I know through good sources that the judges include Janet Caldwell, Claywoman, and Woman Words.

With best wishes,
Alex

Jeff:

I believe that if we extend a helping hand, we never expected to be repaid in return. Some friends understand it and continue to be friends, but some disappear afterward so money and friendship are both gone at the same time; and then there are some that as you say, who refuse friends to help them.

People who are kind and offer help normally do not want others to repay back. Friends in need are friends indeed...
