Poetry by Heather Malloy

Another

I strike three below the dark
Watching the clock of eternity wind down
Chime; one last time, let's run the path
Break the gate and down the drive
Towards the beach, take my hand
Kiss me under God's eye

I need the raw, I loved you here;
Run the sands of time with me!
Hourglass portal to ancient sea
Welcomes despondent longings
Because hope doesn't float, it drowns
Dive down deep to save it

Deeper now, don't hesitate;
Breathe me in for salvation!
Bind your hungry flesh to mine
Pendulum primed, take me down
With liquid moans
I feel you now.

Oh God--can you feel me now?
Torqued and melting in your mouth
Don't spit me out, drink me in!
Make me whisper, whimper, fear
Make the lost dreams reappear like light
Through the water

I hear the movements of your breath
Backwards breaking, through my years
Grab tight; hold fast, lover, swim!
We're in now.
Another
Heaven trip begins
