A Word
What I'd do to be a word --
Not just any, but one used by you.
A word that you play with
that word that's just right
a mapped hunt through the thesaurus
a treasure of rhyme --
Better yet the letters that make up one
R-E-A-D
for your present
R-E-A-D
once done
D-E-A-R to your heart
taken as a D-A-R-E
a word that glides off your tongue
into the air ...
moistly released and inhaled again
held with your breath
a buzzword within
that word that repeats
when you're falling asleep
that while your eyes flutter
you mutter in your dreams
a word used to convince,
a word used to fight
a word used to propose
or to make light
a word that escapes in a Freudian slip
that you wonder about
that you wonder if
an obsessed definition
a translation of passion
any word overused
