Poetry by Courtney J. Campbell

Aftertaste

The taste you leave in my mouth:
Neither sweet nor bitter
But a little of both,
A mixture of pain
With a dose of hope,
A whisper of sadness
With a caress of joy ...
That taste that is left to linger.
To double your pleasure,
double your fun,
A double-pronged injection
From a double-pointed tongue;
As bees to honey
As gods to ambrosia,
Am I to your flavor of venom.
