A Stranger Once Told Me

A stranger once told me:

Go ahead smile your smile,
Laugh your laugh,
Wear your precious disguise,

But I can see trough that,
Cause your eyes just never lie.

My response was:
I told him off,
I told him he was wrong,
Of course.

And I said:
I'm happy as can be,
Then I smiled another smile,
Just for him to see.

He took another look at me,
As he replied so instantly:

The eagle's wings are tired now,
Without rest, they try to fly,
Longing for the good times,
Up there in the sky,

But restless struggle,
Will never reach that high.

So wear your precious disguise,
But I can see trough that,
Cause your eyes just never lie.

A bit annoyed,
I looked at him,
And said:
That eagle isn't me!

In this sun,
I'll dance my dance,
For today gives such a joyful chance,
And I, for one,
Enjoy that glance.

Then I laughed another laugh,
Just for him to see,
I was as happy as can be.

He looked at me,
Intensively,
And this is what he said:

Go ahead dear,
Take your chance,
Laugh your laugh
And dance your dance,

But your state of denial
To me, is not a glance.

So wear your precious disguise,
But I can see trough that,
Cause your eyes just never lie.
