Answered Prayers

I dreamt of a day...
Devoid of all beauty
because the world had forsaken:
Uniqueness, crucified as a criminal.
Diversity, blended into a bland smoothie.
Struggle, quarantined as a leper unclean.
So, humans walked in all the same direction,
Wearing the same expressions, same clothes,
same haircuts -- SAME because the different
Feared to dance like the harlequin.
The machine would never allow it,
Engineered living became our new utopia.
Our dark prayers were finally answered.
...I wanted to die.
